Welcome to Our Church!

Sycamore is a bilingual Japanese English member of the United Church of Christ (UCC), a progressive Christian denomination. Sycamore has a rich history beginning with its founding by Japanese students in Oakland in 1904. Members experienced the internment camps in the U.S. and hardships during and after World War II. We resettled in El Cerrito in the 1960s and extend our hands of friendship and service to the wider community today.

We welcome all, love all, and seek justice for all.

Sycamore offers a wonderful Japanese language-based Preschool,
led by Director Yoshimi Kinoshita and Patti Sato.
Sycamore’s facilities are used by a number of other organizations, including a group of teachers offering Japanese language throughout the week and on Saturday.

Sycamore Bazaar

The Sycamore Bazaar will be held on Sunday, September 21, 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. a wonderful bazaar is being planned again this year so we hope to see everyone there. There will be entertainment, plants, Hidden Treasures, children’s games and of course, delicious foods.

Please invite your friends and if you haven’t signed up for a volunteer shift on bazaar day, please contact Reiko Kamada at rkamada@hotmail.com or (510) 230-3727. You don’t need to sign up to help on Friday or Saturday before the bazaar, just come and we will put you to work. Please look at the list to see where you can volunteer. Your help is much needed and appreciated. Thank you!

Whole Church Rummage Sale
Saturday, October 25Th - Save The Date

Our fall rummage sale will be here before we know it. Please mark your calendars now to save the dates for our sale!!! Volunteers will be needed on October 23, 24 & 25. We will again be holding our sale on the same date as the El Cerrito city wide garage sale date. Come and help, enjoy the fellowship and find your next treasure!
We will start accepting donations on Saturday October 11th at the Western end of Adamson Hall in the Nap Room. Please hold all donations until we can start accepting them.

Let’s celebrate 30 years of Sycamore Christian Preschool together! For the past 30 years, Sycamore Christian Preschool has been like that mustard seed—starting small, but growing into a place where children and families are nurtured, loved, and supported in community.

Sycamore is a vibrant community that delights in service, food and fellowship. We have all-church activities like the annual bazaar and rummage sales, as well as a very active Women's Fellowship group.
